04 Kitty's back
05 Rosalita (Come out tonight)
06 4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)

Notes:
This first of two consecutive nights at Widener was not quite a sellout. Due to the notoriously bad sound in the school's Field House, Mike Appel had engaged a local contractor to install echo-suppressing material along the walls and roof of the Gymnasium. A few hours before the show Appel learned that this material was highly flammable - and a mad scramble ensued to re-position the material to be out of possible reach of the crowd. This caused the start of the opening night's show to be delayed for over 90 minutes. The material functioned reasonably well and the 2hr+ show was a roaring success. The school's newspaper reported that Suki Lahav had to be treated for exhaustion after this show, although she recuperated in time for the following night's performance. The above-mentioned partial setlist comes from a newspaper review. THERE IS NO CIRCULATING AUDIO FROM THIS SHOW, although various permutations of audio from 7/2/75 are sometimes linked to this show.

Notes:
Only other source of the 'Wings for Wheels' version of Thunder Road. I want you not reported from all sources because not included in the video. This second night at Widener was a sellout. Video from this show has been in circulation since at least the late 1970's. The detail surrounding this video production has long been a source of speculation. For many years the circulating specimens of the footage were uniformly poor in quality. However portions of the video were shown in Springsteen TV documentaries in the 1990's and the quality was significantly better than anything seen before in collecting circles. This has lent weight to a long held rumor that this footage (far from emanating from a shadowy fan) may have been shot by Widener students involved in a film making course - and that there may have been some pre-arranged conditional approval to film the concert from the Springsteen camp. The partial setlist mentioned above is from an audio source generally believed to be directly associated with the film footage (i.e., a soundtrack). Portions of the film footage are known to have been circulating among the Widener community as early as 1976. As is the case with the video footage, there are numerous bootlegged variations of the audio source in circulation, of varying quality and individual track completeness. However these "variations" seem to be minor - all incorporate the same 9 songs from a show that featured approximately 16 songs in total. In addition a brief segment of "I Want You" exists as audio but is not circulating as video.

01 Incident on 57th street

Notes:
Fan report "I was at this concert. In fact, together with my fellow University Club members (a local John Carroll University fraternity), we sold the tickets, set up the stage and the band's equipment, sat through the sound check and ushered the concert. This concert, I believe was originally scheduled to be held at Kent State but because of scheduling conflicts at KSU, the show was made available to JCU. The concert was first scheduled at JCU for Thursday, February 27, but moved up to Tuesday, February 18. It was actually arranged and produced (so to speak) by Tim Russert, a 1972 John Carroll grad and former University Club president, and now known widely as NBC TV's host of Meet the Press. The concert began with Incident on 57th Street. The show was held in the JCU gymnasium which at that time seated only about 2000 people because of construction of the new natatorium next door. The show was excellent."

Notes:
ONE show, double bill, with Springsteen & The E Street Band co-headlining with RICHIE HAVENS (who opened). This was an official school event (sponsored by the UOP Program Council) but held off campus in the nearby Syria Mosque. Havens and his entourage were late arriving into Pittsburgh from the previous night’s gig, so the show’s start was delayed for over an hour since Havens did not accept to invert the performances and to play after Bruce.

Notes:
New York City Serenade starts with "Hidin' on the Backstreets" . From a fan "A folkie named Jae Mason opened the legendary Westbury Music Fair show. It was my fourth show and the one where it became obvious that no one could create such magic on stage. The best tapes cannot replicate what Bruce did with the extended Kitty's, Jungleland and New York City Serenade performances of that time. You sat there in a trance wishing the songs would never end. Several months later, my wife and I tried to explain this to Alan Pepper, while in line at his Bottom Line. He referred to us a couple of "nuts" in his Backstreets interview a couple of years ago--but got the idea of what we were talking about after 10 memorable shows in 5 nights."
