Notes:
Steve Van Zandt has replaced Vinnie Roslin on bass by this date. ONE show, with STEEL MILL the sole act on the bill. This is the earliest verified gig to feature new member Steve Van Zandt on bass. Van Zandt had been lead guitarist in THE SHADOWS (66-67), lead vocalist-guitarist in THE SOURCE (67-69) and a brief member of THE JAYWALKERS (69-70) prior to joining Steel Mill. He was not a bass player so he had to fast track his skills on the instrument.
By 1970 the once-hip national chain of Hullabaloo clubs had veered off into a decidedly top-40 disco direction, far removed from the progressive rock of Steel Mill. MERCY FLIGHT lead guitarist Tom Yolton has commented: "when the word came out that Steel Mill was playing there everyone said, Where? Hullabaloo, where the hell is that? It turned out it was a well away from the VCU campus. It was a club with mirrors on the walls. I remember asking someone in the band about it later and getting some reply like..Oh man did that suck...nobody was there...they wanted us to play dance music"
