Entire second set after clearing the building was put on a soundboard. This is the first known Little Queenie and is hilarious as the band had been in the bar for about 2 hours. The second set also exists on a audience shot film.

Notes:
Final night of the LA stay. Only one show this night. It is during Quarter to Three that Bruce can be heard saying "are you talking to me? are you talking to me?" It is very likely that this is the show that Deniro and Scorsese were at. The same dialogue turned up a year later in Taxi Driver."

01 Happy birthday [w/ B.Dylan and others]

Notes:
With a 6-day break in the West Coast leg of the tour, Bruce and girlfriend Karen Darbin fly back to New York to attend a private, invitation-only, surprise 61st birthday party for legendary Gerde’s Folk City owner Mike Porco (the man who hired a then-unknown Bob Dylan for his first club gigs in New York in 1961). Not only does Dylan show up for the party - he brings along several members of his about-to-tour Rolling Thunder Review, as well as his own film crew. This is the first time Springsteen and Dylan had met and both formed part of a communal group that performed a rendition of “Happy Birthday” to a Porco. Dylan also performed a duet with Joan Baez. Brief audio-video excerpts of this event are seen in Dylan’s 1978 docu-fantasy “Renaldo & Clara”, though no Springsteen-related footage is shown. However the “Happy Birthday” segment was audio-video recorded and remains in the vaults.

Notes:
From a lucky attendee:
I grew up spending my college summers (1969-1973) on the Jersey Shore and had seen Springsteen several times along the Jersey Shore. I had seen Bruce in a theatre setting about a year before at the Roxy Theatre in Northampton PA on April 29, 1974.

At the time of the October 29, 1975 show I was in the US Air Force stationed at Travers AFB in Fairfield CA when I heard on the radio Springsteen was going to be in Sacramento which was about one hours drive. I had told several people in California about Springsteen and how he had to be seen live. Nobody out there in that part of California at that time seemed to know who Springsteen was. Springsteen had just appeared on the covers of both Time and Newsweek. Several of us went to the Sacramento show. We did not know if we would be able to get tickets at that late date and figured we might have to buy from scalpers.

When we arrived at the Sacramento auditorium (just before the show start time) we were stunned to find almost no one was there. I believe the Sacramento Auditorium held about 2,500 people. I think the newspaper later said ticket sales were only between 500 to 600 tickets sold but I dont think even that many showed up. I would have guessed the crowd at only 350 or 400 or so. We were able to get tickets in the third row orchestra directly in front of center stage.
Just as we were taking our seats Springsteen came out and addressed the crowd. He said that even though there were not many in attendance he was going to give us the same show as if there were a full house. And play he did. The concert itself (by my watch) lasted about three and half hours continuously without an intermission.
I do not remember much about the set list except that he played most of the tunes from his then three albums. I do remember that the show started with Bruce sitting in a chair with Bruce doing a solo accoustic version of "Thunder Road".
Thanks to Jonathan for his help.

Notes:
The show opened with acoustic Thunder Road. Produced by Bill Graham, who acted as the evening’s MC. One of the longest shows of the entire 1975-76 Born To Run Tour, courtesy of an extended, 5-song encore section. Following the 3rd encore Bill Graham came out and told the crowd the show was over. Seeing the roadies beginning to tear down, most of the crowd filed out. However after half the crowd had left the auditorium they heard wild cheering erupting back inside the hall and immediately turned around and went back – Bruce and the band were plugging in for more.
