Notes: Opening date of the second leg of the tour, and first of seven date in Italy. Italian crowd was, always, perfect, even if Bruce and the band seemed a little nervous….
Notes: A very inspiered Bruce deliver a not-too-unexpected Fire, and is amazed hearing the crowd singin it from the first to the last verse. Great and warm pit created abruptly in the afternoon (all places were sit, officially) picking up people outside the venue… The nice thing was that there was no separation between the people and the stage (i.e. no corridor for the security guys) so people (and I among them) were very very near to the Bruce and the Band.
Samson and Delilah also premiered for Verona, and Bobby Jean make its appearance too.
This is the last show for Patti, coming back to US for caring of the kids, who sings a song of her own : 'Valerie'. The Arena of Verona, together with Villa Manin in Udine, among with other Italian theaters used during the TGOTJ tour, like the Carlo Felice theater in Genoa, have for sure been the nicest places Bruce ever played in, and the Arena was particularly inspiring for him and the band…. which played a great overall show.
First 8 songs are broadcast live by an Italian musical program…
Notes: The show venue was changed at the last minute because the choosen place (Giardini della Reggia) did not obtain all the necessary clearance from the city authorities.
Notes: Bruce nearly filled a 29.000 people capable stadium and delivered a great show to the people in Valencia, giving them the longest show so far and the promise to came back here. He enjoyed the crowd a lot and said "Ha sido un público fantástico. Volveremos a Valencia!!". You can imagine the reaction…..
Notes: It's not a mistery that Bruce has a special connection with his Italian and Spanish fans, which are always the best audience: silent when it needs to be silent, singing when Bruce wants them to sing… perfect, in a word. This round Spain wins (tigthly...) over Italy and Bruce really appreciated Valencia and Barca audience in a particula way, paying them back with two tremendous performances for intensity and setlist, which together with Verona mark the highest point of the tour…. But the tour is still rolling…..
Notes: Great show in a city where Bruce was probably seen for the first time live by a large parte of the audience, and first date of the second leg with the extra encore after american land, which in my opinion remains one of the best show closer ever.
